Script draft

Hi my name is Enkh-Erdene Bayarsaikhan and I am a 15-year-old girl from Mongolia. My friends and family mostly call me Enkhi or Enkhule. I have an awesome life and I can’t complain. I am from a wealthy family. I have a lot of so called friends but I only have a few good friends that I can depend on. I think the people around you have a very big influence on your life, especially for teenagers. Teenagers are open to a lot of things and they can get into things easily. Your friends affect those mistakes that you do and it could stick with you for your whole life.

For me, I think the friends I make now will be very useful to me in my future life. When school starts, the friends that I have made over the summer and winter break fade because I have no time to talk or meet them. Most of my close friends go to my school so we stay close. Those people are people I can count on to be there for me when I need them. The distant and not so close friends, they are just people to say that are friends but are not really. We hang out sometimes just for fun. I think it is necessary to have many distant friends because if you need them for something because they have connections or just to be more popular, not popular like popular but to just have many friends and seem like the friendly type. I lived 2 years of my beginning teenage life in America and it was very different from how it is in Mongolia. I had a few friends but we were not that close because I would just never open up to people because I missed my friends back in Mongolia. If I had gotten used to the life in California and made really good friends, I think our family would have stayed. That is how much a big part of my life friends are. I also think it would have been fun to be friends with more people and tried a little bit harder. In Mongolia, rumors spread really quickly. Even if they don’t know you, they talk about you. Whatever you did, in some way was an effect of your friend or friends. Maybe they convinced you to do the thing you did or maybe they even started the rumor. Friends are supposed to help and encourage. Those kinds of friends are just not some one you can depend on. My friends are smart, crazy, loving, caring, spontaneous, open and dependable. I know they will stick with me for my life and I love them. I have known them for most of my life and I appreciate that. Its not often when you have best friends you’ve known since you were a little youngster. What I’m trying to say is that friends are a very big part of a teenager’s life. They share their minds and they can change their friend’s minds too. And that teen with the changed mind can do something good or bad and that will have a big affect on their lives.

Plan: My Podcast

Design: My Podcast

For my final podcast there can be many topics that I can talk about, but it should be about the adolescent life. For me there can be a lot of topics to talk about in the podcast and I can go on about my life for hours but of course there has to be restriction. Some ideas for topics are:
• Friends
• Fashion
• Boys
• A typical day
• Party
• Family

Intended audience: are teenagers, preteens and parents. Teenagers are intended because they can hear about other teenagers that are the same as them or have the same problems as them. For preteens, it is good for them to listen to my podcast because they can get a picture of how teenage life will be like. Not all preteens will have the same life, but they can get an idea or just see how some teens’ life is like. My podcast will probably be more leaning to the rich life side of Mongolia so the rich preteens can listen to it. For parents, they can listen to get advice or ideas of how other kids are like in Mongolia and maybe change their view or maybe change their way they parent their teenager.
To record and publish: I will record my podcast on my phone because it has a very good quality microphone and put it on my computer. After I have edited it and fixed it I will put it on a website called podcastalley.com. There are many sites for podcasts, but I feel that the most easy and comfortable to use.

Investigate My Podcast

WHAT IS A PODCAST?
There are a millions of podcasts on the internet. A podcast is when someone talks about something. They are for anything and everything. There are podcasts for movies, cars, recipes, trees, politics etc. People put them on the internet for other people to listen to. There are two kinds: video and audio. Most of them are free, but there are ones that you pay money for. Some podcasts are just for fun, some are for education, media and more. The people that create them are just normal people like you and me, but they have some interest that they like to talk about maybe. It is not a professional thing, although it could be. The people that listen to them are so many in this world. Anyone can listen to them if they have the internet to get it from. What they need to know or what they want to know is all podcasted.
They are made just how you would suppose they are made: with a microphone. They don’t need to have a recording studio or anything, just a microphone.

OUR PROJECT
In I.T class, as you know from previous posts, our unit is about podcasts on the teen life. Our main goal in the unit is to make a non-fictional podcast by ourselves, about ourselves about adolescence in Mongolia. To make a podcast we need to learn about podcasts in our investigation. Why podcasts? I think the tone of voice is a very important thing when talking. We will only be making an audio one. You can show the tone of voice in video, but it is not that important to show the person because the person might not want to show himself or herself. For me, making a podcast will express myself. I can get my feelings out there and no one will be there to criticize me or anything. When we put up our own podcasts, many kinds of people might listen to it. Teenagers having a rough time and need some support or they could be looking for kids with the same problem. To make our own podcast, we need to investigate about others. I listened to another podcast of any kind and got some ideas. Here are the sources:

1. Erbear111. “How to get a guy.” 20/12/07. Youtube.com. 29/11/09.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAqGGEo2G3I&feature=related
This podcast a funny advice for girls on how to get a guy to like you. A girl talks about one way to get a guy to like you but it is not seriously a real way to get a guy, because she was kidding. She says write on a piece of paper all the feeling you feel like “I love you, you are so cute” and stuff. Then also draw you guys getting married, and your kids. Put the paper in his pocket and say “don’t open it till I’m gone” then run away. After I have listened to it I thought “oh, it was a joke” because in the beginning, it’s all serious. If a girl actually did that, for a typical guy, he would think, “that girl is crazy,” but if the guy really liked the girl, he might really like it, even though it is creepy. Even if I thought this advice was serious, I still wouldn’t do it. The video doesn’t give any proof if it really works. Plus, I know better ways to get guys. I found this video podcast on YouTube. It was a once publishing thing. This girl has other videos on YouTube, but they were all not podcasts.

2. Kane, Erin. Brandt, Kristin. “Don’t let the bed bugs bite.” Manic Mommies. 23/11/09. 192. iTunes. 29/11/09.
This podcast is for housewives mainly, for women that have children and a husband. These two women talk about their lives, about their houses, their children and husband. Every episode is mainly about those things, but they have different categories every time. On this episode, they talk about decoration of houses and friends and neighbors. This podcast does not really appeal to me, but it does appeal to my mom. She has 4 children, and has to take care of the house. Sometimes she works or goes out for important things. She was also the one that designed and decorated our house which I know was a huge hard thing to do, so I understand about the lives of awesome moms. I found this podcast on iTunes and it is published weekly. These women relate things to their lives for examples for other women. These women have a happy family and they have jobs too.

3. Handler, Chelsea. “Sleeping troubles.” Chelsea lately video podcast. 28/11/09. iTunes. 29/11/09.
This is a real comedy podcast. Chelsea lately is a show in America; it is a woman talking live about a lot of stuff. The specialty is that she is very funny. This episode is a short acting one. One of her crew members, Chuy can’t sleep in a hotel and he goes around all his friends room and seeks for help. This podcast doesn’t really appeal to me other than just making me laugh. I don’t have trouble sleeping in a hotel because for some reason, I feel safe. I found this podcast on iTunes and it is published 3 or 4 times a week. Chelsea Handler is an American stand-up comedian, humorist, television host, actress, and best-selling author. She has her own late night talk show Chelsea Lately on the E! Cable Television Network. In 2009 she won a Bravo A-List Award. She also has her own column in Cosmopolitan and the UK celebrity magazine Now Magazine.

Making the podcast is probably harder than publishing it on a site. To make the podcast, you have to plan it and talk about it in right and appropriate words, but recording the podcast is easy because you just need a microphone and a computer to edit and publish it. Sometimes the site that you wish to publish the podcast on provides a recording software. What do I mean by publishing? To publish a podcast means that you put it on a site or whatever so that other people can hear or watch it. You just need a site and register or sign up to that site and voila! You can now put your recorded podcast on the Internet. There are many different sites that you can publish your podcast on. For example: iTunes, mypodcast.com, podomatic.com, podcast.com, podcastalley.com and more. There are countless recording devices and softwares that you can use. You can record on you phone(some phones don’t have it), your computer or your mp3 player or just a recorder.

TEST
In the end of the unit, we will have a test to evaluate our final project. To test my podcast, I will ask the listeners questions:
• Do you think this podcast was true and it relates to my life from what you know about me?
• Was it over exaggerated?
• Does this relate to your life in any way? And how?
• Would you recommend this to other people? Who?
The more positive results I get, the better my podcast was.

Comments on other's podcasts

All the other podcasts that my classmates did was very interesting. They all followed the instructions that Mrs. Wilson gave and they were good and realistic. Some of them had very good quality like my ones when i interviewed people, but some of them had very bad quality. The bad ones, i almost couldn't hear them. Me and Binderya's fictional podcast, Urangoo's, and Jiri's were kind of bad quality. Kyu's podcast was ok. Probably half of the class did not record their interviews, so i did not hear them. I also didn't read them. The ones that i have listened to are over all very interesting.

Urangoo's podcast was very sad. It shows the most difficult life of the teenagers living in Mongolia. The way how children's parents drink and beat them up are very true. I could not hear anything of Jiri's podcast so i don't know what he talked about. I think it was about hanging out with friends and stuff. Kyu's was all about being on the internet, and it was very true. Our school kids and most kids in the modern generation stay on the internet for hours. Sometimes they do homework, they surf, they chat and they just listen to music. People can't not go along with technology when it is developing so much so fast. Temuulen's interview was similiar to me and Binderya's. She goes out with friends and has a good safe life. But Nomin, she doesn't care about her school work, while Sarnai does. Recently, Suugi's, Elise's and Sarah's also got posted. I really liked Suugi's because it was also a very true and common problem throughout the world these days. I was really touched when i heard the podcast. Elise's was very bad quality. I really could not hear anything when i put it on the loudest. Maybe it is the computer, but i don't know what she said. Sarah's was also very bad quality too. It was the same as Elise's. Apart from the ones that i could not hear, all of my classmates' fictional podcasts were great. just like how they are.

When my parents were young, they probably did have as much freedom as we do today. They say that it is not much different and their parents treated them the way they treat us. Of course back in the days, there were things different in many ways like the Socialism, but just because of that, it doesn’t mean that the way the parents raise their kids have to be different. Different parents treat and care for their children in different ways, but overall, in time it has not changed much.

Even though parenting has not changed much, the teenagers’ ways have changed in many ways. Today, the number of kids that do drugs have increase. The number of kids that smoke have increased. Also, the number of kids that drink alcohol have increased. All of these have good explanations. I think it has changes so much because of the new technology and the new ways that humans adapt to. People are always looking for new things and when they find it, it affects them, in bad ways and good ways.

I am happy to be an adolescent, but not that happy that happy to be in this generation. I wish I were a teenager in 2500. Everything would be technologized and easy I think. There would be so much more fun things to do. Being a teenager is not all about games, it is also about learning too, so I think in 2500, the technology will be so advanced, they just put all the information you need into your brain. That is a very bad way to learn things and to improve society, but I wouldn’t have to learn. I would say I am a very lazy person so it would be perfect for me I think. Having that kind of technology will destruct a lot of things and probably make the world a lot worse. What defines my generation is the development of Mongolia. Mongolia, especially Ulaanbaatar has been developing so much in so many ways since kids around my age were born. When I grow up I hope that my generation will be called the Development Boom generation.

Create Podcast ScriptL: Criterion A

Bindi and Enkhi <3

We chose two main topics in our podcast, fashion and friends. Mainly, how does fashion represent our social status, and because of how we look and what we wear others judge us. This is a sensitive issue for teenagers, especially for higher class children. Also, how the kids look and behave, through them, people judge their family background. Although friends is a similar issue too, for every teenager fitting in a group is a quite hard, sometimes you feel peer pressure. Here in Mongolia, lots of kids tend to smoke and drink just to look cool. In the end, they get addicted and ruin their future adding one more alcoholic and smoker to Mongolia. Kids should be in a positive environment and relationship to make good decisions and choices and add another good person to Mongolia.

We chose these topics because they are close issues to our lives, and it also close to a lot of other kids’ lives in our environment. We wanted to raise the awareness.

Nomin’s experience, outlook and desires are very different form her parents’. She is a spoiled rich girl that has not seen much of life. She has no discipline, or knowledge of the outside world. Her parents are smart people that are running a big company so they know a lot more about life that her. Their desire is of course a bright future for their daughter just like any other parents, but they forgot to care for her fully.

Nomin’s script

Hi, my name is Nomin, I’m a seventeen year old girl. I’m not a typical Mongolian girl, I’m rich. Well I’m not rich, my parents are rich. They are the boss of a big company here in UB. They are really rich and they have nothing but money. I am an only child so I am really spoiled. I know it. I was born in Mongolia but I lived in New York for most of my life, and I returned back about five years ago. First, it was quite hard for me get use to the lifestyle here, but I adapted quickly and made lots of friends. With my friends I do lots of fun thing s here together, but it isn’t is as fun as when I was in America.

My favorite thing in the world is clothes, fashion. I have a lot of designer clothes, and I love them! Can’t imagine my life without them. My friends get really jealous of because of the clothes I wear, if I’m in good mood I let them borrow my clothes, because they are not as rich as me. In Mongolia there’s not much good stores but there are good things to buy, and now the Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Hugo Boss, and Armani are opening soon, I’m so excited, I’ll be going there a lot. On holidays I go to New York with my family, and meet my friends, and go shopping. I also love going clubbing in New York. In Mongolia, it’s also full of clubbing night every Friday and Saturday night. My motto is “live it up, drink it up.” My parents don’t care if I go because they are too busy doing their work. I don’t see them much because they go to other countries for business and stuff. They just give me money and they think that I’ll be happy. Maybe they want me to be free and not grow up how they did, which was very disciplined and strict. I do need money, but sometimes I feel like I need some love. The person that loves me the most in this world is probably my nanny/maid.

I have a lot friends in Mongolia, girls and guys. I know it’s wrong but I have four boyfriends right now. I think my friends envy me for that. I mix up my boyfriends’ names a lot. Anyways, shouldn’t my friends be supportive? This makes me feel that I don’t have real friends just like leeches, they only befriend me for what I have. Sometimes I feel really lonely and I have no one to call when I am lonely.

I am a teenager, I have mood swings, and normal teenage problems, but it is kind of different from other normal teenagers. I get what I want, and do things without consequences.

Criterion F

My attitude toward technology changed over time during the project. At first, I did not like it. I did not know what to do so I was confused and was just going with the flow. I kind of understood what people told me to do, so I did it, but I didn’t understand anything about the criterion and why we were doing this project so I had a hard time and didn’t like the project. Whenever we had to write a new criteria, I was not enthusiastic and motivated to do it at all. At the beginning I always asked my friends what we were supposed to do. After I had wrote a criteria I would ask my friend to read it and see if it was alright. But the art part, the creating part of this project, I liked. I was motivated and independent. I was like that because I understood what to do so I just did it. I asked Ms. Sudra for help sometimes though. For I.T before class I did not have a positive attitude when I came in. I did not want to write more things I did not understand.

However, towards the end, I started to understand everything about the criterion and stuff. I started having a positive attitude before class and was motivated to write. Even though I hate writing anything, I had to so I still had a more positive attitude.

For me stealing other people’s work is not an issue for me. I am totally against piracy. Pirating is not respectful, plus it is illegal. In class, I respected other people by letting them work without distracting them, helping them, and complimenting them.

Criterion E Evaluate: Presentation

I did my presentation to the class last week. I feel that I totally wrecked it. I was very nervous about standing in front of everyone and talking about what I feel and like. I actually have a fear of public speaking. I know I have to work on it to become successful, but today, I am scared of it. I was so nervous that I was laughing and smiling too much to hide it. When I asked people how I was, they did not say all good things and not all bad things. They said I wasn’t serious and saying things like “umm.” They also said I was cute, but that has nothing to do with learning how to speak in public. I am wondering: how am I going to become a big business person, but I can’t speak in public. I have to practice while I am young.

Another thing that was not good in my presentation was that I was the last person to present before the bell rang, and I had to do it fast. I did not get to explain everything about my art. It was because I had so many materials.

At last, this project has finally come to an end, and i have learnt a lot. I am happy that i have finished this project successfully. Even though I totally doomed the presentation, i feel i have done a good job.

Criterion E Evaluate

This project was overall a very good learning experience for me, to say honestly. I learnt a lot of things, from editing pictures to making a mixed media art. First of all I want to thank my teachers and classmates for helping me do this amazing project. I liked almost all the parts of doing it, now, it is coming to an end and I have to write an evaluation.

On the day we took pictures and edited them, I did not really know what we were doing or how to do it. I was not familiar with the criterions and things like that. During the process, I got familiar with the criterions and it became easier. I got things and was on a roll, I think. But in the process, I made some mistakes and errors. One error was that I did not know that that there had to be more than 4 edited pictures and I only had 2. So when I found out that I had to have done 4 I edited two more pictures. Another mistake I made was when I was doing the art work, I spilt a lot of glue on my art work. It was a lot of glue. It took me a long time to clean it up.

The hardest part of this project was writing on my blog wall. It took a long time. Sometimes I thought I wrote too little. The easiest part of this project was taking the pictures! I like taking pictures and it is not that hard.

If could do this whole project again, I would of course, know more about the criterions, and ask more questions from the teacher.

My test was very successful. I asked people to talk about what they think about my artwork and what each thing means. All the people made very good assumptions and they even said things I didn’t even think of, and they told me about what I felt, and I realized I did feel it. For example, the bars, my real purpose was to express that I feel imprisoned, but Binderya made a guess that the bars mean that I can’t express my self the way I want, and that is very true. All of the people made very good guesses.

This project relates to the real live world in many ways. One way is for doing this project, I learnt a lot about me. I learnt about my feelings, interests and more. Another way it relates to the real live world is the whole process. Doing this process in order is very important for when we grow up and have to do business or being a lawyer etc. The process is what we learn from. If we do things here and there, our work will not be successful. Projects like these are to prepare us for the real live world.

Criterion D Design

The creating part of this project is to make a mixed media self portrait. In art class we are making the piece of art. First we project the picture out to a wall and trace it on a big sheet of paper. Then we start putting color into it. We can use anything to decorate it. We had to bring our materials in from home and use something from home but there are also things in the art room. There are a lot of things in the art room. The way we use our materials have to mean something to us. It can show our interests or express ourselves etc. For example if I like to read, I can stick ripped up books on the paper as my face. This is my favorite part of the project. It is my favorite part of the project because I like to create. I like to get my hands dirty. I like looking at the outcome of my art. Even if it is not that good, I like the feeling of creating something. To make my portrait I used many different materials. I tried to show a wide variety of me by using many different materials. Yesterday, I finished doing the art. It took me a long time but I got it done and I am proud of it. I used a few different colors of paint, chalk, magazine pieces, feathers, lip gloss, facial cream, little soft pom poms, cloth, pieces of stars, and a piece of jewelry. All of these materials each have a meaning.
-Paint is used for most pieces of art, and I love art. If there was no art in the world, it would be very different from how it is today. I painted the sky, mountains, heart and bars. The blue skie symbolizes the clear blue skies of Mongolia. Mongolia has a beautiful sky and I love it. The green mountain also represents Mongolia.
-Chalk represents my childhood. When I was a little girl, I used to play outside all the time, every chance I got, I would play outside. I played many different kinds of games but the one I liked best is hopscotch, and you draw a hopscotch game with a chalk on the ground. That is why I used the chalk for the cement behind me.
-For the magazine pieces, there is a lot of meanings. For the border, I cut out pieces of eyes and lips. I love looking at people’s faces, and it also stands for seeing and talking. People love to talk about other people like what they saw and what they heard. And it sometimes is a good thing and sometimes is a bad thing, so to let other people not talk bad things about me, I have to behave. Another thing for the eyes and mouths, all of the pieces I cut out from are people that inspire me. They are mostly actresses and models. I like acting, and models and actresses both act.
-For my face, neck and chest, I used magazine pieces too. I cut out very little pieces of skin mostly form advertisements and stick it on. That symbolizes that I want to have skin like those people in the magazines. They are soft, smooth, clear skins. I cut out pieces of magazines
-The feather represents birds. Birds can fly, and I want to fly. I have always wished that I could fly, that I could see the world from above. I look at something and wonder what it looks like from above. That is why I like going in airplanes. And I also want to feel the wind in my face like in those movies. Another reason why I want to fly is to get to places quicker. Sometimes going in car seems to take ages. But at least we don’t have to walk nowadays. I got the feathers from the art room and used it as a decoration for my collar for my shirt.
-I love make-up. My hobby is to decorate myself. So I used lip-gloss and facial make-up. I applied the lip gloss to my lips and the make-up to my arms. Even though I don’t apply make-up to my arms, I just used it.
-Pom poms are nice and soft and round. I like those kinds of things. For some reason, I feel that puppies are like those pom poms, and I love puppies. I also got it from the art room and also I used it for the collar of my shirt.
-Like I said, my hobby is to decorate myself. Clothing and jewelry is a big part of decorating myself, so I used cloth for my clothes. If clothing wasn’t important I would have just painted my clothes on my portrait. I love to go shopping and buy clothes. I used a broken piece of my jewelry.
-Stars make the night sky look very pretty. I like to look at the stars at night and wonder. Wonder what is out there in the universe. I believe that there are aliens out there and wonder when they will come to our planet. I got the stars from the art room and stuck it on the cement part because there was no other space to stick it.
My art work is very colorful so it is different from many other students’ work. I unconsciously made it colorful, and I realized the colorfulness represents something. I like all the colors in the world. The colors are what makes the world beautiful so I don’t have a favorite color.
I don’t think I made much mistakes. Once, I spilled a lot of liquid glue right on my art work. I spill half of the big bottle and it took me a long time to clean it all up. I was so angry at myself, so I learned that I should not leave an open glue right beside the art work. Another mistake I made was that I colored the arms with markers. After I finished coloring it, I looked at it and it looked very bad. So I glued white paper over it and colored it with make-up. My friend gave me the idea of coloring it with make-up.
If I would do this project again, I would think about how I am exactly going to do it. Even though I think my art work turned out good, I would plan everything very good. I worked on the art work 2 times a week for 2 periods each for 3 weeks. I used my time wisely. People did not really tell me anything about the art work. Not many people saw it.
The hardest part of making this mixed media portrait was making the skin. I did not know how to make the right colors. I first though of making all of the skin with cut out pieces but it took very long so I decided to use something else for the arms. Making the face and neck with very small pieces of magazines was very hard. Finding the right skin color was very hard too. The easiest part was to paint.
I think the strength of my piece is the way I express myself. I did not put or use anything that does not represent me. I think the weakest part of my piece is my face. People said I look like I put on a lot of make-up. I don’t want to look like I put on a lot of make-up and that might throw some of the meaning off.
Technology helped me a lot to make a better art work. Editing the picture first gave many ideas and really gave a head start to make the art piece. If I did not have an edited picture I would have not known what to do.
I learn a lot from doing this project. I learned more about me and about how to make a mixed media art. I did not know was mixed media was before I did this project. I also realized about the things I liked and felt.

Criterion B Design

This is my chosen picture for the project. I think this picture expresses me in a perfect way. It is the same photo of the one I edited before this. I removed all the unnecessary colors and filled the whole heart with red. You can see some of the background so that is important because you can see the mountains and little bushes. They represent my country. The heart represents that I know I am loved by my family.

I used picnik.com to edit this picture.

This picture is my chosen picture so it meets all of my design specifications.

This is the first photo I edited. It looks very messy. It has different colors here and there and the background I wanted to show is not visible. I edited this photo like this because the red effect just looked nice. And then I filled some of the heart with read and left some of it blue from the blue sky.

I used picnik.com to edit this picture.

This picture meets 6 out of 8 of my design specifications.

In this picture I am standin in front a the blue wall outside of the school. I cropped it to make it closer to my face. I don’t know exactly how I made it sepia but I did when I was messing around with

the effects options. And also added a oil paint effect. This picture expresses me in off way but I will say it. I wish the world was plain sepia sometime so that everything would be less complicated. The oil paint effect is because I wish that I could draw good too.

I used the school computer’s photo editing software called PhotoStudio 5.5 to edit this picture. I think it was easier to use this program than picnik.com.

This picture meets 7 of 8 my design specifications.

This picture is my favorite altered picture. I altered it today and I wish that I had altered a long time ago and used it as my chosen picture. I took this picture the day I took all the other pictures but thought it didn’t look as good. When i altered it, I made it black and white and put a simple frame around it like I did with my chosen picture. I took this picture in the beginning beside a tree because I love nature. I want to help save the world. But the world is turning bad so it is black and white. I like that i look sad becuase I am sad that the world is getting bad.

I also used the school computer’s photo editing software called PhotoStudio 5.5.

This picture meets all of my design specifications. So i could have used it for my chosen picture but i edited it way after I did everything else so it was too late.

At first I only had 2 different types of altered photos. I only picked one picture and altered it two different ways. Today we are writing the criterion B. Mrs. Wilson told us that we needed to have 4 altered pictures so I edited 2 more pictures. On this computer I only have the pictures that we took outside of our school. I had different photos, so I edited them. I think the black and white one is very pretty. It is prettier than the one I chose for the final picture. Before, I said that I didn’t really want a black and white picture because I wanted it to be colorful. And colorful means happy, but now I don’t care. As long as it looks pretty because looking good is important to me.

In this project I am making a portraiture. I have to edit a portrait of myself in a way of describing myself. In the picture in a way I put my personality, feelings and life. This project is important for kids because it helps them understand themselves and explain themselves. Some kids have no voice and doing this project can help them get their feelings out there. The picture can be any picture taken anywhere. Ideas for where to take the picture are place that I want to be in the future, a special place or it just represents where I feel I am. When I edit it I can’t just make it look nice and not put any of me in there.

After I have edited it on the computer, the picture is projected out and I trace it on a big sheet of paper. After I have traced it I use any materials that I Iike that represents me. I When I present my portraiture to the class I want to ask them why do you think I put this here, why do you think I put that there. They can answer and if they answer the way I intended the meaning to be then I have done a good job.

My guiding questions:
Will my clients understand my edited picture?
What materials are going to represent me and my interests?
Will my edited photo be edited enough?
Who will my client be?

When we edit the picture, we can use

The first thing we did was we went outside and each of us got to use the camera and we go to let our friends or Ms. Wilson take our pictures how we wanted it. I took pictures in 3 different places. First, Suugi took a picture like I was behind the gate like I’m behind bars. Second was a picture I took myself beside trees. I took that picture because I love our planet earth and wanted to make my project about being eco friendly. Third was in front of a blue wall and Ms. Wilson took that one. I was posing with my hands on my hips and smiling.

This is the picture i used to edit. I edited this picture in another way but i didnt like it that much. So i made it more plain and just colored in the heart. The other way i edtited this picture is i made everything wrong and red color.

For my picture, I used a picture that I took standing on the other side of the camera and the gate, and I made a heart shape with my arms over my head. The bars represent me feeling imprisoned sometimes but I’m not that free. It also means that i can't express myself sometimes. But the heart is that I know that I am loved and I love everyone around me. Behind me there is grass and mountains, that represents that I am in Mongolia and I love Mongolia.

When I tried to edit my picture and make it black and white or different colors and things, it felt too dark and it didn’t feel like me. So I left my picture the way it is with the natural colors of me and nature. With the blue sky and my dark skin. I think my skin color and my eyebrows are what stands out most from me so I didn’t want to change the picture so that no one can see them. The only thing I added on the computer was painting inside the heart and adding a little frame. But the frame is barely noticeable. I used picnic.com for altering my photo.

Test for the product:

A test for testing my product that i will do in art class is asking my class mates what they think i meant in the final pieace of art that i made in art class. I will see the difference between what their eyes see and what my eyes see. After everyone has speaked what they think i meant in the portraiture, i will explain what i really meant so they will understand.
