Create Podcast ScriptL: Criterion A

Bindi and Enkhi <3

We chose two main topics in our podcast, fashion and friends. Mainly, how does fashion represent our social status, and because of how we look and what we wear others judge us. This is a sensitive issue for teenagers, especially for higher class children. Also, how the kids look and behave, through them, people judge their family background. Although friends is a similar issue too, for every teenager fitting in a group is a quite hard, sometimes you feel peer pressure. Here in Mongolia, lots of kids tend to smoke and drink just to look cool. In the end, they get addicted and ruin their future adding one more alcoholic and smoker to Mongolia. Kids should be in a positive environment and relationship to make good decisions and choices and add another good person to Mongolia.

We chose these topics because they are close issues to our lives, and it also close to a lot of other kids’ lives in our environment. We wanted to raise the awareness.

Nomin’s experience, outlook and desires are very different form her parents’. She is a spoiled rich girl that has not seen much of life. She has no discipline, or knowledge of the outside world. Her parents are smart people that are running a big company so they know a lot more about life that her. Their desire is of course a bright future for their daughter just like any other parents, but they forgot to care for her fully.

Nomin’s script

Hi, my name is Nomin, I’m a seventeen year old girl. I’m not a typical Mongolian girl, I’m rich. Well I’m not rich, my parents are rich. They are the boss of a big company here in UB. They are really rich and they have nothing but money. I am an only child so I am really spoiled. I know it. I was born in Mongolia but I lived in New York for most of my life, and I returned back about five years ago. First, it was quite hard for me get use to the lifestyle here, but I adapted quickly and made lots of friends. With my friends I do lots of fun thing s here together, but it isn’t is as fun as when I was in America.

My favorite thing in the world is clothes, fashion. I have a lot of designer clothes, and I love them! Can’t imagine my life without them. My friends get really jealous of because of the clothes I wear, if I’m in good mood I let them borrow my clothes, because they are not as rich as me. In Mongolia there’s not much good stores but there are good things to buy, and now the Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Hugo Boss, and Armani are opening soon, I’m so excited, I’ll be going there a lot. On holidays I go to New York with my family, and meet my friends, and go shopping. I also love going clubbing in New York. In Mongolia, it’s also full of clubbing night every Friday and Saturday night. My motto is “live it up, drink it up.” My parents don’t care if I go because they are too busy doing their work. I don’t see them much because they go to other countries for business and stuff. They just give me money and they think that I’ll be happy. Maybe they want me to be free and not grow up how they did, which was very disciplined and strict. I do need money, but sometimes I feel like I need some love. The person that loves me the most in this world is probably my nanny/maid.

I have a lot friends in Mongolia, girls and guys. I know it’s wrong but I have four boyfriends right now. I think my friends envy me for that. I mix up my boyfriends’ names a lot. Anyways, shouldn’t my friends be supportive? This makes me feel that I don’t have real friends just like leeches, they only befriend me for what I have. Sometimes I feel really lonely and I have no one to call when I am lonely.

I am a teenager, I have mood swings, and normal teenage problems, but it is kind of different from other normal teenagers. I get what I want, and do things without consequences.
